Etamen

Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 2026

Etamen is built with privacy at its core. Medical records and caregiver-selected emergency-card snapshots are stored on our secure infrastructure so paired users can access them across devices. Location data is shared only with your explicitly paired caregivers, and only while you have location sharing enabled.

1. Who We Are

Etamen ("we", "us", "our") is a caregiving platform that helps individuals ("beneficiaries") stay connected with their caregivers. Our contact email is support@etamen.org.

2. What Data We Collect

Account data: When you register, we collect your name, phone number or email address, and a hashed password. This information is stored on our secure servers to maintain your account.

Check-in signals: When a beneficiary taps "I'm OK", a timestamped confirmation is sent to our servers and relayed to paired caregivers. No location or personal health data is attached to this signal.

Location data: When a beneficiary enables live location sharing or triggers an SOS alert, GPS coordinates are relayed in real time to paired caregivers via our servers. Location history is retained on our servers for up to 30 days. Location sharing can be turned off at any time from the App.

SOS alerts: Emergency SOS events include a GPS snapshot and a timestamp, relayed immediately to all paired caregivers. These are stored on our servers to ensure delivery reliability.

Voice notes: Voice recordings are uploaded to our servers and delivered to the recipient. Recordings are automatically deleted from our servers after 3 days. You can delete them earlier from within the App.

Push notification tokens: We store device push tokens to deliver alerts (SOS, check-in reminders, geofence breach notifications, medication reminders). Tokens are deleted when you log out or unregister your device.

Medical records and Emergency ID: Medical records, medication schedules, and health notes are stored on our secure infrastructure for paired caregiver and beneficiary access. A caregiver may deliberately publish a limited Emergency ID snapshot through a revocable QR/link. Anyone holding that capability link can view only the selected snapshot; the public page never reads live medical records, and revocation disables the old link.

Battery level: Battery level of a beneficiary's device is relayed to paired caregivers via our servers for connection monitoring. No charging history is stored.

3. How We Use Your Data

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.

4. Data Sharing

Your data is shared only with:

We do not share data with advertisers, data brokers, or any other third parties.

5. Data Retention

6. Security

We use HTTPS/TLS for all data in transit. Emergency ID capabilities use high-entropy tokens whose plaintext is not stored on our servers; only a SHA-256 hash is persisted. Public pages are no-store and expose only the caregiver-selected snapshot. Passwords are stored as salted hashes. We do not store payment card numbers.

7. Children's Privacy

Etamen is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at support@etamen.org.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@etamen.org.

9. Location Permissions

Live location tracking requires "Allow all the time" background location permission on Android. You can revoke this permission at any time in your device's App settings, which will disable live location sharing and safe-zone breach detection.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. We will notify you of material changes through the App or by email. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page indicates when the most recent revision was made.
